Kirk Rice Retires

Kirk leaves the business that shares his name in fantastic shape and, while he’ll be greatly missed, it’s business as usual for our valued clients and the Kirk Rice team. There will be no noticeable change to the firm, and the name above the door will remain, in tribute to the business he’s been so instrumental in building over the last four decades.

Kirk started the business in 1989 having previously worked for some of the largest accounting firms, such as Ernst & Young. This gave him the foundation to go his own way and the desire to do things differently. He set up business in his home with his then wife Delia, before moving to his first office in Ascot. He worked hard to build up an effective team and win both clients and accreditations. Within five years he’d moved the business to the larger purpose-built offices at The Courtyard which the business still occupies today.

The early 2000s saw continued expansion when Kirk took on new partners, and in 2007 the company merged with financial services firm BFS, bringing a new partner, and allowing Kirk Rice LLP to service more clients across a broader range of services. The firm’s entry into the Top 50+50 Accountancy Firms list, announced for 2023 just this month, means that Kirk is bowing out on a true high, affording the partners the ideal opportunity to use the festive season to celebrate his achievements and his unique legacy that remains.

Anyone who has worked with Kirk, either as a client or a colleague, will appreciate his warmth; his generosity; the care and consideration he has shown his staff; his belief in maximising opportunities for all; and the legendary quirkiness of his speeches.

Board partners Maxine Guest, Graham Jennings and Peter Sharratt recognise what a mentor Kirk has been in their working lives: “We’ve all enjoyed working alongside Kirk so much. He has made a huge contribution to what we’ve achieved together: we’ve created stable employment, had a lasting impact on the local community, and established excellence in Kirk Rice LLP for so many clients. And Kirk has stamped his unique personality on the business that will continue in his name.”

We’re sure you’ll join with us in wishing Kirk a very happy festive season, a relaxing new year, and a long, healthy and happy retirement with his wife, Julie.
